There was a strong line up for the last Reserve pre-season game and it was far too strong for the home team. Dylan Kerr started the scoring in the tenth minute and in his first game in United colours, Steve Hodge wasted no time in getting his name on the scoresheet as he headed in the second after thirty-two minutes, after David Wetherall had headed on an Imre Varadi cross. Varadi also joined in the scoring spree with two well struck shots in the thirty-third and sixty-ninth minute, but in between Kilner had scored for Farsley in the sixty-first minute. Ryan Nicholls had replaced Simon Grayson at Inside Right at Half-Time along with Damian Henderson replacing Bobby Davison at Centre Forward. Steve Mulrain replaced Steve Hodge at Outside Left in the sixty-first minute. Steve Nicholson scored in the eightieth minute after replacing Ray Wallace at Outside Right in the seventy-fifth minute and the other substitute, Damian Henderson, scored in the final minute to make it 6-1.
